Time to Tarot

Why the tarot may appeal to you.

The tarot is essentially a storytelling tool and can be used as a key for unlocking our inner wisdom.

The origin of the Tarot is unknown, but many believe the Tarot card dates as far back as fourteenth century Europe.

There is a total of 78 cards in a classic tarot deck. Each card tells its own story with the support of imagery and symbolism. We can split the tarot into two categories: the 22 cards of the Major Arcana and the 56 cards of the Minor Arcana. ‘Arcana’ means lessons or knowledge which gives an indication into what the tarot offers us.

The 22 cards of the Major Arcana represents the main themes and life lessons we all experience during the cycle of life, and refer to main archetypes that influence us, such as birth, love, hope, loss, revolution, desire, tradition, society, justice …and more.

The 56 cards of the Minor Arcana are concerned more with the smaller, day-to-day elements of our lives. Those passing energies that might be helpful to clock early doors, like ‘potential drama alert, avoid the coffee machine at break time today’ or ‘better to take a walk before making that call’.

Tarot can be a wonderfully rewarding experience that offers you clarity. Some believe a tarot reading is only for those major life changing, earth shattering moments in our lives - when you’re shredding your fingernails at the rate of knots, teeth chattering uncontrollably, eyes flitting nervously from left to right, as you consider which road is best to take. You know, those BIG moments! You can though, choose to pull out the tarot on a cosy Wednesday evening, snuggled up in big socks, and ask simply how the next few days could go smoother for you, or grab a little advice!on how to deal with that ‘situation’ at work … whatever, the tarot can be helpful for the big and the little stuff.

Consulting the tarot can be a useful tool to flag up helpful life lessons that you may have skipped over and need to resit (doh) and help you figure out what’s hiding in the back of your mind, holding you captive from moving forward. The cards tap into your intuitive energy, and rest assured, often provide a sparkling straight talking higher awareness of what you already know deep within.

The tarot isn’t for everyone though. Totes. And often, one needs more support than a tarot reading but if the tarot does call to you, it’s likely you enjoy stories and the human experience. You may also be someone who listens to their intuitive feels and trusts that perhaps there’s a little more at play in life than what we may have been initially told.
