Reformer Pilates

What is Reformer Pilates?

Reformer Pilates is a form of exercise that utilises a specialised piece of equipment called a Reformer. This equipment consists of a sliding carriage, springs for resistance, and various attachments, allowing for a wide range of movements and exercises.

Benefits of Reformer Pilates

Muscle Toning: Effectively tones and strengthens muscles.
Injury Rehabilitation: Can be used in rehabilitation settings to aid recovery from injuries.

Improved Balance: Enhances balance and coordination.
Mind-Body Connection: Promotes mindfulness and body awareness through focused breathing and movements.

Customisable: Exercises can be modified to suit individual needs and fitness levels.

Precision pilates

Precision classes are simple but still strong, expect more corrections and a slightly slower pace. Some of these classes will also only have 3 people in if you feel you need the attention.

Perform pilates

Perform is our mixed ability class. That means that you will get a class full of all the movement patterns that you expect with corrections and flow that will ensure your body feels amazing

Power pilates

To join a Power class you will need to have done over 20 classes, know the pilates language and follow instruction quickly and smoothly, this is a more advanced class with complex movement.

Pilates with Kids

This class is for the mums, that’s not that the class is designed especially for mums although all pilates is great for mums!  but this class allows you to bring your baby in a pram and and not to worry about other mums getting upset if your baby is awake and making a bit of noise.....

  • Core Strength: Focuses on strengthening the core muscles, which include the abdominals, obliques, and lower back.

  • Flexibility: Helps improve flexibility through controlled movements.

  • Alignment and Posture: Emphasizes proper alignment and posture, which can enhance overall body mechanics.

  • Low Impact: The exercises are low-impact, making them gentle on the joints while still providing a challenging workout.

Clinical Pilates

At studio Zest our reformer pilates sessions are taught by Physiotherapists so expect Clinical based Pilates, focused on your posture and alignment . The classes are an just under an hour long and delivered in groups of 5 so that you get the attention and FOCUS to detail. The adaptability is in the resistance.

In every class expect to move through functional movement patterns some of these patterns will focus on your posture and others will isolate different joints or muscles for stability and awareness.
